Jonathan Trott (145 n.o) and Stuart Broad first maiden century (125 n.o.) rescued England on Day Two of their fourth Test against Pakistan at Lord’s on Friday.
Earlier, Mohammad Amir took career-best figures of 6/47 but Trott and Broad battled it out to revive the hosts’ hopes with an unbroken stand of 240 for the eighth wicket. England were 342/7 when reports last came in, having been 102 for 7 after 18-year-old Amir, in his 14th Test, had become the youngest to take 50 wickets at this level.
Amir transformed England’s overnight 39/1 into 47/5 with a dramatic spell of four wickets for no runs in eight balls. That haul saw him rip through England’s middle-order, with Kevin Pietersen, Collingwood and Eoin Morgan dismissed by Amir for nought. Trott
