After couple of defeats to Mumbai Indians finally they come to winning moments. Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and elected bat first under the overcast conditions. Again Sachin and Shikar Dhawan contributed opening partnership of 82 runs and this is the second time they scored above 80 runs as a opening partnership in the Airtel Champions League T20.
Sachin Tendukar made 48 runs from 39 balls with 6 fours and Shikar Dhawan scored 39 runs from 37 balls. But Gayana managed to pull things back into favor to them. Even though they dropped couple of catches of Sachin Tendulkar.
After loss of opening wickets Mumbai scoring rate is little bit slow. Pollard walked into crease at number 3. Sourab Tiwary and Ambati Rayudu both of them fell in quick overs. Then Duminy joined to Pollard. Pollard played very slow in the starting. This Trinidad and Tobago all rounder exposed him self from the 15th over of the innings.
He dealt with sixes only. He scored 72 runs from 30 balls with 1 four and 9 sixes. Mumbai Indians scored last five overs 85 runs. other hand JP Duminy also contributed to team, he scored 14 runs from 6 balls with 2 fours.
Gayana started innings with big target has to chase. But they never looked comfortable on chasing. Only the Ramnaresh Srawan scored 46 runs from 38 balls with 6 fours and a six. Gayana showed some good performance in this match when compared with other match they played with Royal Challenger Bangalore.
Mumbai Indians bowler Lasith Malinga given a early break through to his team. First time Mumbai Indians bowler Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh did well for his team. Zaheer took 1 wickets and given 18 runs in his 4 overs spell as Harbhajan Singh took 2 wickets and given 33 runs in his 4 overs spell.
Even though this is not enough for Gayana. Now they are in trouble, they will play 2 more matches in this league stage. If they want make roads into semifinals they have to play some outstanding cricket.
Mumbai Indians alive their chances for semifinals. Today Royal Challengers Bangalore play the match with South Australia Redbacks. If RCB win the match means they will top in the group with the help of net run rate. Mumbai Indians and Lions both the teams have each 2 points and RCB South Australia Redbacks each 4 points.
Any how Mumbai having the tough time in this series. If any miracle happens then only Sachin and co will continue the tournament.
